I was thrilled to be a part of the Great Granny Twist with the Fat Quarter Shop and Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet because I had attempted several times, on my own, to make the traditional Granny Square but never finished. I’m not sure why, I just never finished. I thought with a blog commitment and deadline, no problem, I’ll get it done . . . .
The premise behind the tour is to take the Granny Square block and give it a twist – OK no problem but that was BEFORE I received the book and read Lori’s technique on making the Granny Square block HER way. I.FELL.IN.LOVE with her technique and quite honestly, I forgot about the twist . . . . .
I started cutting squares and rectangles (yep – NO side setting triangles cut once or twice on the diagonal) and before I knew it blocks were rapidly getting sewn . . . . I think the “twist” was on me. I found a MUCH EASIER and quicker way to make the Granny Square block. Thank you Lori – I’m a new fan and follower!
Did I fail at doing the twist? Probably, but with creative photography I created Great Granny Squares . . . .
